Computational and Systems Biology Group

The Computational and Systems Biology Group is part of the Società Italiana di Biochimica e Biologia Molecolare (SIB), which is Italy's leading scientific society dedicated to advancing research and education in biochemistry and molecular biology. As a member of the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS), SIB connects Italian scientists to a vibrant European network of researchers, congresses, and collaborative initiatives. Through national congresses, thematic working groups, training schools, and awards, SIB fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and supports the next generation of scientists in tackling fundamental biological questions and their translational applications.

Within SIB, the Computational and Systems Biology Group brings together researchers who combine computational methods, structural bioinformatics, and systems-level modeling to decode the molecular complexity of living systems. Starting from structural and functional information on nucleic acids, proteins, and their variants, the group aims to characterize the molecular interactions and networks that underlie biological processes, shedding light on the determinants of biological complexity. By integrating experimental and computational research, the group promotes interdisciplinary training and drives progress toward personalized medicine, addressing both multifactorial and genetic pathologies through a deeper understanding of biological and biotechnological processes.
